Surface Seeding of Wheat: A Sustainable Way towards Climate Resilience Agriculture

چکیده

Conventional tillage (CT)-based agriculture is known to be ecologically indiscreet, economically and environmentally unsustainable, leads the degradation of soil environment in Indo-Gangetic Plain (IGP). The surface seeding (SS) method was introduced manage agro-ecosystems for sustaining productivity increasing farmers’ profits, while natural resources. Here, we conducted a systematic literature review on SS wheat reported IGP, with aim cover concept SS, its impact yield, properties, environment, potential benefits constraints. major findings are: (i) an SS-based rice–wheat system improves (?10%) profitability (20–30%),while employing lesser amount irrigation water (15–30%) energy input (20–25%) compared conventional system; (ii) more adaptive extreme climatic conditions, reduces carbon footprint, increases crop production; (iii) approach enhances health by virtue increased organic improved aggregation, as well soil, water, conservation; (iv) consisting no-tillage substantial residue retention offers alternative burning. Strong policies/legislation are required encourage wheat, order limit burning, provide farmers credits exchange sequestration reduced greenhouse gas emissions.

Sustainable Agriculture: More than One Way Ahead

Recent discussions of the way ahead for agriculture have tended to centre around the frequently incompatible claims of the proponents of technological agriculture, now further developed through inputs from biotechnology , and ecological agriculture, of which organic farming is the best known example. There is a need for the claims made for these two versions to be put into a broader scientific a...

Tools Towards Managing Mycorrhiza for Sustainable Agriculture

The arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi, in concert with other soil dwelling microorganisms such as the so-called “plant growth promoting rhizobacteria”, play a pivotal role for natural soil fertility and stability, hence, for sustainable crop production. Appropriate management of the AM fungal community is crucial, especially in the tropics where the cultivated soils are notoriously fragile and ...

Towards Sustainable Agriculture: Challenges and Opportunities

The environmental impact of agriculture cannot be ignored. In many countries, as much as 70 per cent of the land area is in agricultural use. Over a third of the global agricultural land area is in high-intensity, continuous cropping systems that use high levels of agrochemicals and reshape land and waterways. The rest is under such a farming system that uses far fewer inputs, but requires rela...

Climate Change Adaptation in Light of Sustainable Agriculture

Agricultural activity has always included adaptation to a number of diverse stresses and opportunities–elements that continue influencing developments in the agri-food sector. Climate and weather conditions are a good example of factors that require on-going adaptation. With climate change they take on even more significance. Based on data from Canadian producers, this article identifies severa...
